tweaking misting...sphagnum in pots retarding the water

got the new Mistking system, happy with it.

I am trying to tweak it for an extended vacation coming up. Has anyone noticed that even with it on for a few minutes, the orchids in pots that have a fair amount of sphagnum on top seem to not to get enough water down under the sphagnum??

since the vacation is extended, if I go past 3min and 30 seconds each day of spraying, I would run out of water. So I am considering removing most of the shagnum.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this
