Due to the impending heatwave coming up, I have knocked up a temporary shading screen which should protect my orchids from most of the direct sunlight which they currently recieve in the afternoon. They currently can recieve direct sunlight up until about 3pm... which hasnt seemed to bother them too much, with the exception of a bulbophyllum which I today seems to have been quite affected by the sun.
This is just a temp measure until i build a shadehouse (see previous post) but should provide a nice little micro-climate for them in the meantime. It looks a little wonky in the pics... but it isnt really. Here is a couple of pics
My hasty build paid off, just under 42 C today. Garden took a hammering with some plants being severely burnt... luckily, orchids fared well... by the insects hanging around in the area...it must have been one of the more hospitable areas of the yard. Look forward to the full construction though
