Default Greenhouse going up

The builders eventually arrived today to start building my greenhouse. They needn't have rushed. Greenhouses from Greenhouses Direct decided not to tell me there were parts missing from the delivery and that makes the greenhouse useless until the missing parts arrive next weekend. I would have preferred to have waited the full five weeks until every part was present instead of having the delivery driver, with the worst attitude on earth, inform me that three pieces of glass were missing but they would be here 'this week'. Turns out it's rather more than glass that is missing. Two days after delivery and still no forthcoming notification from Greenhouses from Greenhouses Direct that the parts were missing I emailed them to find out what was going on. Transpires that the louvre frames and everything that goes with them are missing and they wont be with me until next weekend - you know how easily I found builders to do the work in the first instance. I expected my greenhouse to be up and running with the plants all moved out there but that would be too simple, wouldn't it. For want of an email or a call to tell me what was going on I am another £200 for the builders to come out and fit the missing parts next weekend because there is no way I can do it. It looks like this greenhouse will be a beast of a building which is what I needed for my location but it's turning out to be rather more fraught with unnecessary hold-ups than should have happened. I had a good mind to turn the delivery away until all was right but that would probably have incurred additional expense in getting it back up here. At least it's going up but to say I'm furious with Greenhouses from Greenhouses Direct is an understatement. They have not indicated it could be earlier that the missing parts may arrive so I'm not holding out any hope for that to happen. I doubt I will get any satisfaction with being reimbursed the cost of the builders having to come back but I will never deal with this company again. Did they think they were doing me a favour? They were made fully aware of my circumstances from the start. I don't think they thought at all except about themselves. Customer service? Does not exist in this case, so far. Anyway, here are some pics to whet your appetites. Personally, I've lost my appetite.

Wow! How dumb not to ship all at once! At least they should have noted when you ordered that some parts wouldn't be available...or even called you later! No wonder you are angry! Hope everything will go smoothly now.

gosh what a pain....but no doubt when it all gets together it will be worth it.....dont despair!! looks like the builders have a handle on it, they are actually reading instructions!! when we built my gh, it was a 2 week process for about the same style house....my dad, mom, and myself being the crew it went ever so slowly, but we eventually mastered it! and i am so glad to have done it! the process is long and fraught with disasters, but so well worth it to see your finished project filled with lovely plants! cheer up and think of future joys!!

ps, when you get the frame assembled, and you cant get those last struts to fit, try loosening up all the main screws and give it all a shake! somehow it settles the frame into place.....gl

I'm afraid that even with 200+ my greenhouse will look almost empty - which is why I'm filling it with chillies too!

Aw, that's a bummer about missing parts. But the frame is happening and so now it is taking on life! I would demand to talk to someone in management at that company and fight for the amount extra that you have to pay the builders because of this screw up. I know sometimes its easier just to not fight, been there done that with different circumstances over the years. But I would make an attempt at least. That's how they might think twice before screwing up the next person's order.

We are doing major reno's in our greenhouse and it is very frustrating. Everything goes slow and while it is happening my plants are getting covered in dust and stucco dust (we had to cut stucco with a grinder). And the end is not in sight yet. So I feel your pain! But in the end you will be so thrilled to have the greenhouse

This really is going to be a beast of a GH. The roof can easily withstand half a ton of weight on it but I need that for the winds we get in my corner of the globe lol. I wrote to the company demanding the cost of the extra payments and I wont stop until I get it. This just didn't have to happen considering what I paid for it.

Not five minutes ago I received this in an email..."I can confirm, as per our email of 20th April 08:52:00, that the parts you require are being despatched today to arrive tomorrow."

Something worked.
