Ramon, thanks for all the useful info. We live in a very sandy soil area. I am debating on what to put down to walk on. I Just built a small (5x11) shade house which I am going to keep up for just that reason. I intend to frame in the 4x8 sheets of glass and use 2 of these, one on each side of the roof, to help create the air flow and heat reduction. We have a couple of old ceiling fans that work just fine that I want to mount in the greenhouse for more air flow. I too want to keep it fairly warm in the winter. I am planning on a 2-3 foot high knee wall at the bottom of the side walls that will be insulated. I plan on wood heat. The back of the greenhouse will be a 4-6 foot section that will not be glass. This is where the wood stove and potting table will be. That end will be to the North where it wouldn't help much with light anyway. I may put an exhaust fan in that wall. I am going to try to find some old house windows to go on the front side so that I can have even more ability to offload heat. I don't intend to spend a whole lot on a misting system as I think I can create one on my own. I figure I will need it more in the winter when the wood heat will be drying things out. I would love to be able to make it just as big as I want to, but don't have that sort of cash. Gotta work with what I can scrounge up. Gonna be a fun project though.

hi jonada! and welcome to the world of greenhousing!! you will def need a max-min thermometer! specially with wood heat, you need a method of keeping track of your temps....i got mine for about 12 bucks from farmtek.com ....they have all sorts of parts for mist systems too....call and talk to gail d'amelio, ext 101....she is very clever and sweet and will help you find what you need on a budget! tell her nora sent you, and she will get a chuckle....they are about as cheap a supplier as you will find....check out thier net pots too, they sell em for hydroponics but they work good for orchids too....gl and let us know how your project is coming along!

Like Ramon says think of wrapping in bubble wrap in the winter. I line the inside with the stuff with the large bubbles every winter. In the warm March we had I took it off the roof section and wish I hadn't as it's gone cold again now (we even had a brief snow flurry last weekend). My garden center sells in off a large role and we found it worked out not too expensive and we should be able to reuse it for several years (this year was the second).

I have been thinking of the bubble wrap in the winter and was wondering where to find it. I will have to check around. Was also thinking of making all the frames of the glass thick so that I could plastic line the inside in the winter for a dead air space. This was another reason I want wood heat. I can afford to keep it warm.

Ok, new question. I brought home my 10 4x8 sheets of glass yesterday. Now I need to know if anyone can tell me where I can either create my own blueprints for this building or can view plans of greenhouses so that I can adjust them for my use.
