Hey everyone,
I have a small greenhouse I use indoors to keep the humidity up. I don't want mold or fungus to become an issue. Should I run my fan all the time or just during he day. I was planing on just during the day but I can see the outside of he greenhouse fogging up at night. I could even put the fan on a timer so it turns on and off threw out the night. Any ideas or suggestions?
I run mine 24/7 also. The air is always moving where the plants are native. If anything, run them at night. You don't want the plants sitting in a soggy atmosphere with still air, that's just asking for the fungi and bacteria to grow and thrive.
I have number of orchids and have fans on 24/7. Though this does mean you must have the available humidity in the air so the plants do not dehydrate rapidly. It is a balancing act. Even a slight air movement can give great benefit to the prevention of molds etc. It doesn't take much. :-)
The idea is to have gently, "tumbling" air movement around the plants at all time. It keeps their air mixed, not allowing the formation of any "dead zones" of stagnation, and similarly aids in the uniform evaporation of standing water in "hidden" locations.
