New mini GH finished & moved in: pictures

So the GH from an earlier post is finished (at least for a first go) and moved in. For quick recap, it is a 9x4" Santa Barbara kit, redwood and glass, for shady (55-1500 fc) intermediates (58-85F).



You notice the absence of benches. Don't like them. So put Manzanita branches in there, plus a bed of orchid bark for potted terrestrials. The idea is to have a bit of a jungle feel. Not quite dense enough, I know. Plenty options to add :-)
If you wonder about the curved wood, it isn't the wood, it's the lens, a full format fisheye, so 180 degree angle in the diagonal.

Business end of GH with internal roof to protect electrical from water dripping. Over that some plastic diffusion grate for fluorescent tubes, so that the pots can drain freely. There is an oscillating fan on a dimmer to reduce power, the white box on the ground is an electric heater. On the right along the front of the bench is the Digital Aquatics Herpkeeper controller for the Mistking mister plus temperature control. There are 4 GFI outlets on a 20Amp breaker.

The plants are from the recent Santa Barbara Orchid fair with a couple of additional trips to SB Orchid Estate and Andys. Seriously fun.

WOW, awesome space and collection!

Where do you live? I've been wanting to do something like this for about a year now but live in an area where I don't believe I can do that without a lot of heaters/cooling units.

Benches would make plants more accessible but your space looks really nice. I am sure when the plants will grow and you keep adding to your collection it will get more of a jungle look. It will look great!

How great is this! I would love to have a setup like this some day. I never considered the idea of a bench-less greenhouse, but I love the concept - once things fill in the space is going to be amazing. Please do keep this thread alive from time to time and post update photos. I can't have a greenhouse just yet, but I will gladly live vicariously through my fellow OB members.

Thanks for the kind replies, everybody. Well understood re the plants growing. It will take a few years, but I will be getting there. For those who had a closer look at the plant list, you noticed that many are minis, so even with quite a bit of plant growth, I can certainly add just a couple more species. For those of you who have been on the premises of Andy's, his greenhouses is about the density level I am shooting for.

Re access, that was not the main objective. The far side is opposite a small indoor sitting area, so the idea is to have a 7' tall 4' wide display case to enjoy over coffee or tea. I did consider access a bit when putting in the branches, so while it looks jungle like, there is fairly easy access to all the plants. As the plants grow that may change. Only time will tell how well my concept worked out.

I live in the Los Angeles area in southern California. Night time drops once in a blue moon below freezing, highs up to +110F, so will get a swamp cooler in not too long.
