Default MistKing mist system installed

Got my mist system from Marty a few weeks ago. Finally got a chance to install it. I know I will be making mods to it as I go along. I will probably be adding more mist heads to it in the near future.

My question is about programing the timer. Not sure how often and for how long. Right now I have it set to start misting at 11 am, every 2 hours for 15 secs. Does this sound about right or what are some good starting points?

What should I be looking for to get the best out of it?

Thanks
Mark

Well I have already discovered 15 sec isnt long enough for the mist.

Trying 1 min 15 secs now.

Default Mister

I live in the Los Angeles area and the RH is very low here, I Have found that 2 minutes every 1/2 hour starting at 11pm and ending at 4pm works great.

Outside I use the misters to wet the orchids and other epiphyte type of plants, in the greenhouse I use them as under table misters to add humidity. both the greenhouse and outside areas are on the same controller.

I find that outside, using them on the half hour for 2 minutes has really helped the roots to grow on all my mounted orchids.

What I had to do was install a filter system so that the heads would not get calcium and other minerals stuck in them, I found that I was having to replace or clean the heads a couple of times during the spring and summer .
