Opinions on buying a Sunglo Greenhouse?

I've been trying to figure out what type of greenhouse would be best to buy for my area (cold temps in the winter usually a couple of weeks in the teens, sometimes in the single digits). I was cruising Costo's website and found what appears to be great deal on a Sunglo Greenhouse. It appears to come with a bunch of extra items that I would assume it wouldn't normally come with, usually Costco get's the good package deals. So I thought I would ask if anyone has any opinions or inputs on this greenhouse. It's not as pretty as the victorian glass style, but looks very functional and well insulated: Costco - SunGlo 8' x 12.5' Expert Greenhouse

Any advantage over a tempered glass greenhouse compared to the polycarbonate?

And what about size? I originally wanted something larger then the one in the link (like a 10 x 12 or 12 x 20) so I could grow other plants along with my orchids, like over winter my geraniums, maybe try a tomato plant year round, and start my vegetable and flower seeds.

So what do you all think? I was going to wait until next year sine we just moved...but is this just to good to pass up if I can afford it?

Becca, I love my Sunglo!! We just got it finished (for now) and up and running last summer. I have been growing orchids for only 2 yrs., and it was sooo nice to move them from my 10x10 orchid room to my new gh, although I had T5s in the room. Anyway, I'm still very new at this, and I know there are other members who have Sunglos (BikerDoc, Mojomick..for example)...but I'll be more than glad to answer any questions you may have concerning my experience so far. yep my current orchid room is about the same size as yours, what size greenhouse did you get? I hope to hear from the others as well who have this type of greenhouse! I'm excited about the deal I found on Costco's website!

I'd like to hear from others on how they keep their Sunglo greenhouse cool during the hot summer months, or if it is not an issue?

You're going to need some sort of shade in the summer. Direct sun rays will turn a greenhouse into an oven in no time. Personally, I'd recommend Aluminet.

Concerning an earlier comment about year-round tomatoes: NO NO NO! Tomatoes emit ethylene gas as they grow, which is toxic to orchids.

Do you use your Aluminet shade cloth on the outside of your greenhouse or draped inside ? Which level % of shade cloth do you use ?

Any other recommendations on keeping these things cool during the summer? I know Vicki has a 60% Aluminet shade cloth she is using with hers and she is still working on getting the temps down. I have read they work best if installed on the outside rather on the inside of the greenhouse.

Anyone else, anyone else? Howard? I know you have one of these Where are you?

Charlie, I know your question was directed to Ray, but even though I'm not him, I wanted to put my in for you. I put my 60% Aluminet on the outside of my greenhouse.
