Greenhouse Cooling Vs Shadehouse

Okay, I live in the hot and sometimes humid south US. I have a greenhouse but am pondering the pros and cons of installing evaporative cooling or trying to build a shade house of some kind for summer.

Would a swamp cooler work here? How much power do they use? Always have to consider the electric bill.

I know orchids enjoy their summer vacations in the outdoors. Would it be more feasible to erect some type of shade house? I'd have to be able to keep the insects out!!!

I have about 150 plants, mostly cattleya and not all of them have hangers but I suppose they could have. Some are small and still on the bench.

Oh and another hitch might be in getting DH to do the manual labor....again!

So what do you think? I want the best solutions for the catts as they are my primary concern.

I'm not sure a swamp cooler is for you. I usually only see them in dry climates as they add humidity to the air. I thin k ou might need a regular air conditioner type unit. You won't need that big of one so I might look around for a window type that your hubby could frame in. Good Luck. My catts love the gh.
