ORDERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone!
I am soooo excited.....I just want to share my excitement with you! I'm sorry.....I hope you don't mind my long post. I can hardly contain myself to get anything else done (housework, errands, etc.) because my mind is totally elsewhere.....the Sunglo greenhouse my husband ordered for me earlier this week! Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to getting it, but I've prepared myself for the worst.....don't know what, but you never know. Maybe the "handy man" won't know exactly what to do.....maybe my husband won't have a whole lotta time to help put it up.....heck.....I'm just a paranoid worrier (some of you already know that, though) Howard (aka Bikerdoc), I know you have the same greenhouse, so by any chance can you see your way clear to come down to Alabama to help me? (lol).....I have no doubt that you and some of the other members would know exactly what we need to get it going. Seriously, I know I will need tons of advice, so all help from any of you will be appreciated. PM me if you don't mind and have the time. I need to know the pros and cons, too.
Anyway, I feel a little silly.....acting like this because I know it's premature since it will be a few weeks before it arrives...and then I have no idea when it will be "up and running" (so to speak).....but I can't help getting excited that having one is even planned.

Its a huge deal to get a greenhouse, you have every right to be excited!! I would be losing my marbles daily!! I do think it is important for you to reach out (and they will also prob reach out to you!) to the people on OB that have greenhouses to learn as much as you can about establishing a greenhouse, as they really require a good balance of all the things that orchids need to function well. I don't have a greenhouse, but I've read so much about them that I feel like I know a little bit about them...anyways...you'll do fine, just be prepared to make adjustments over the first few months, and probably over the entire first year, as you learn how to adjust the humidity, air movement, shading, things like that. Most importantly, watch your plants once they are in the greenhouse for any funny behaviors...with increased humidity and sun, you can get rot, burn, bugs...but you can handle it! You just have to keep your eyes open I think it'll be a great adventure for you and I wish I could do it myself!! Good luck to you
I forgot to add, these are some of the people I thought of off the top of my head that have greenhouses and can provide good advice: Bikerdoc, hillyilly bob, Gin, Aileen

Hi,
Thanks for making me feel like I'm not by myself.....getting this excited. I grow in a 10x10 orchid room now, with 2 4' T5s. It's been working out fine, but you should see our garage.....we've got lots of different HUGE plants that have been living there this past winter. If they haven't been making my husband nuts (wishing they weren't in the garage), I'm not 100% positive I would be getting a greenhouse this soon. We plan to store them there during cold weather, then put them on the backporch and lawn during the summer. That's only a plus.....my orchids are the main reason for the GH.
Thanks for replying,
Vicki

Oh, thank you so much for understanding my excitement, and of course, the encouragement!
Becky, I am really clueless about GHs, other than a few things I've read about them here on OB, so I will definitely need help.....lots of it. All of you OB people are the greatest....so I'm sure many of you will come to my aid.....I really hope so! You've already been a big help....preparing me as to what to expect with my orchids. It gets really hot here in Alabama in the summer, so one of the 1st things I'm guessing that I'll have to do is find out about shadecloth....what %, etc. I know that's only 1 of a ton of things I'm gonna have to figure out. I'm hoping I can transfer some of the things from my orchid room (fans, humidifiers, lights, etc.) ?? I really have no idea.
Thanks for your reply,
Vicki

Thank you, Joann! I even talk to my orchids.....telling them (the little I know) about their new home.
Thanks for your reply,
Vicki

Vicki !!!
Woo Hoo!!!! Getting a greenhouse is cause for celebration! If you weren't excited, I'd be worried about you.
Now, I'm ready to hear all about it. What size is it? What comes with it, if anything? Have you decided where you're putting it? Does it go on a foundation? If so, what type? Shelving?
What do you grow primarily? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to get a feel for your setup and I do want to hear all about it!
My husband built a greenhouse for me about 3 years ago. I know the feeling of excitement and a little uncertainty. The what if's. You know, what if I can't grow my orchids in it? What if it's just a money pit? Even what if I get tired of it?
Now I know, it's different than growing in my sunroom but I can grow in it. It's not cheap but what hobby is? And I can't imagine ever growing tired of the sights and smells of a greenhouse.
In other words, you'll love yours!!!!
