It took 4 weekends to build. It is a pretty big house, I figured I needed it for all the orchids I want to buy.
Will post a close up photo of the shade cloth so you can see how nylon cloth looks.

This is the shade cloth, it is 70% which means that 70% of the light should be blocked. I chose this colour because even though it's rated at 70% UV, it in theory lets through more useable light (whatever that means) and the real rating is more light 50%. Also 70% of the wind is blocked (not sure how accurate that is either). I do know that the cloth breaks up the air movement so even if it's blowing a gale outside the house, inside it's a nice level of air movement.

I was going to ask about the shade cloth, now I don't have too. I think it looks great. Well worth the time you spent on that.
You're 'chids are going to be very happy in there new home.

That's a beautiful shade house! Great work in building it.
What are the measurements? What do you mostly grow?
Thanks for sharing those pictures!!

The measurements are 6 metres by 3 metres (about 20 feet x 10 feet) and around 3 metres high or about 10 feet high (might be slightly more than that as well).
I mainly grow Cattleya hybrids and am very keen on Masdevallias and Paphs as well which will grow in there. I have to add shade in summer for the latter plants I mentioned.
Also we have cymbidiums but they are mainly my wifes plants. I would say the majority are small cattleya hybrids.

That looks fantastic! That's my dream enclosure, thank you for the construction tutorial.
I wanted to know how did you secure the shadecloth to the structure?
Any future plans on adding gutters to the eves to collect rainwater, or is your tap water of good quality out where you are?
