Sheridan, the plants look great and healthy. Everything here is starting to take off with spikes and buds. The temp is getting up to 50 in the daytime and the gh is getting into the 80;s. Almost time to start thinking of putting on the shade cloth. Take care and enjoy the spring in Crooked River. Betty

Thanks Betty, the temps here are still in the 40's during the day and low 20's at night The gh does warm up when the sun comes out. The chids are all showing new growth but the s/h medium sure drys out fast with the heat on. Only 2 showing spikes and that my Equistries mom and keiki. Just added 4 large Dens. to the gh.
Glad to hear its warming up somewhere...

Sheridan, I got home from work yesterday and the temp in the greenhouse was 94.9. I had to open the vents and exhaust fan and I turned the oscillating fans up to max. I am putting on the shade cloth today, I'm getting sunburn on some plants. Betty

Good grief, Betty
Down here in central Texas (two miles from the blast furnace doors during the summers!!), I am still dealing with highs in the 50's F and 60's F, which puts the old GH temps ~60-70 F! Barbecued orchids...mmmmm

Vanessa, the outside temp was only 50 but the sun was so intense, and I had the gh so buttoned up and air tight that it just acted like an oven. I don't think it was hot long enough for last damage as I was able to cool it down quick but turning on the exhause fans but it was a close call. Just goes to show that the outside temp doesn't have to be that high to cause problems. It's really the sunshine that you have to worry about. Betty

Dang and I even had my fork ready .
Seriously, I do understand. I have some window openers that are thermostatically controlled. If it gets above ~76 F, the little vent windows will open. My husband designed and built them for my Christmas this year...very kind and generous of someone who really doesn't see what I see in them! In the past, it was always a risk I took in the winter mornings....should I or should I not open the vents/windows??
