See? Your blood is way to thin! It's single digits here after high 30s yesterday and the plows went through at 5 AM and left me ice blocks at the end of my driveway. Still have 30-45 MPH winds, white out, mixed with part sun then fog. Great stuff. Furnace has been running full bore most of the day here. But think of the good side: Masdies love the temps!

Hey Ross, its 6 degrees in Redmond right now. Very light snow falling. I have to keep the heat up here in the house for my hubby so I wear shorts I was out this morning feeding my birds I was all bundled up and sweating to much Spanish blood in me.

Stay warm out there

Sheridan

Sheridan, glad there is someone else out there willing to brave the cold and feed the birds. The gold finch got their feeders filled this am despite the -15 wind chill. The GH is staying in the high 50's so far. Stay warm all. Ross, the same plow driver came by my house. He sure gets around. Pure ice at the end of the drive. I'm hoping for sun tomorrow so it will melt. Greenbean, my son says it is snowing on the west side too. Not quite as cold but in the 20's. Betty

It is supposed to be 19 or 20 here in Medford, Oregon tonight. Brought some of my potted plants up close to the house. Others went into the garage for awhile. It has been a lovely warm fall, but winter is here now! Hey Ross, the snow did melt by about 1:00 or so. it was lovely this morning. A tad late, but it did get here. At least the snow on the road melted anyway. The bird feeders are being hit hard and my rabbits are eating like pigs. Probably trying to stay warm. Geese are still flying around honking. I love having seasons!

OK, this has got to stop. I've had enough fun. I just looked at the weather channel and it is -2 and we have a winter storm watch for 4-8 more inches of snow tonight. I don't want to open the door to the GH as the draft is too cold and I don't want to blast any buds. Our orchid society mtg. is tonight and we usually do show and tell, but tonight it may be just tell. I hope all of you are toasty and staying safe. Keep those babies warm and hopefully the weatherman will be wrong. At least the long range forecast is for the temp to go to 30 by Monday. Betty

Aww, thanks Mojomick. I have a cousin in the Tri-cities. And the aunt I mentioned with 18" of snow (probably more by now) is named Betty! Hehe, and thanks for the Coug support. At least we weren't last. I was in the marching band this year, that was the real show. Who needs football?
I know it's snowing at home, with more on the way. I'm going home this Saturday. Hope the weatherman is right about that day being clear on both sides of the mountains. Got up to a high of 9 degrees today and is now falling. Supposed to get 4 to 8" of new snow before the weekend.
I've been worried about my potted plants at home. My dad called to ask which ones should be protected, but without being there I can't think of everything!
I think it will be my responsibility to feed the birds when I get home. Mom and Dad had let the feeders go empty after I left for college.

Hope it warms up so we can all get some work done! Take care and bundle up!

If you guys want to take this weather over to my post about winter at http://www.orchidboard.com/community...hiner-but.html I wouldn't mind at all. Sorry I started on Sheridan's post with weather stuff. She intended this to be about her really nice greenhouse, and I hope we can get back to that (unless Sheridan wants to do something different?) I'm trying to be gentle (not that I am always gentle ) and give her, her forum. I'm done!

Well, poor Sheridan can't do too much with this ridiculous weather, so she might as well vent by complaining about the weather until she can make progress on the GH. Although I think we're all hoping things will warm up so we can keep watching your progress, Sheridan!

Sorry Sheridan if we hijacked your thread. I would like to make a comment about insulation though. It looks like your GH is a single shell. If you need to consider more insulation next year, I suggest you look into a solar pool blanket. I covered mine this year with a 14 mil magni clear and so far I think it is working well. Betty

Alas, poor Sheridan, who can only twiddle her thumbs while watching snowflakes fall and icicles form on her empty greenhouse.
