Aquafog 700 Yeah or Nay
Hi,
I have a 20 x 20 greenhouse attached to my home. I had two hydrofoggers that worked great for several years, however now after much repair and cleaning I would like to get something more dependable. I have been looking at Jaybirds Aquafog 700 that is self fed. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this positive or negative. I use city water, but it has a somewhat high calcium content which does not seem to bother the plants much. No RO system as of yet.
Thanks,
Mike

i use the aquafog 700...and i love it. i use it with a hydrostat which helps keep the humidity level constant in the greenhouse. when the exhaust fan comes on the aquafog replaces the humidity the fan hauls out....my vandas love it...as well as the other orchids. i have found that plants up to 3 ft away from the direct blast still get wet ...however, i counter this by placing other plants that dont mind wet between the machine and the orchids. everyone is happy!
the company was very helpful when my motor quit working last summer....due to my parents turning off the water supply by mistake....the company sent me a new motor overnite for only postage. very nice and helpful. all in all it was well worth the investment.

I have a Aquafog 400 and it's a very reliable, carefree machine. It's hooked to a hydrostat also.

Are your Aquafog machines the ones that are self fed and hanging.
How did you suspend your machines in your greenhouse. Did you buy the optional arm that connects to the blower housing or were you able to drill a hole in your greenhouse and suspend it that way.
Also is there any maintainence issues with these that you have encountered? What about nozzle clogging?
I have seen the video from Jaybirds web site. How far does the blast from the fogger extend?.
Thanks,
Mike

mine sits on the bench....no maintainence so far, and its been a year..... with no nozzle clogging....the blast extends about 20ft i think, that is i can feel the particles faintly at that distance. so far its been wonderful and i dont know how i would exist without it...

Mine is hung from a rafter. It came with a little bolt like thing and just slips through a hole drilled in the rafter. No big deal.
The 400 is smaller than what you're looking at but I have no nozzle clogging or maintainence problems. I oil it twice a year and clean the screen filter.
It is hooked to a water faucet in my greenhouse.
Depending on how I have it set, the 400 will easily fog 12 feet.

i think maybe with the hanging ones you have a little better choice of positioning than i do with the sitting one, plus mine takes up bench space....it is fed from the faucet, they include about 15ft of tubing and the faucet connector. i just wasnt sure about the weight hanging from my rafters.
