Default Heater info needed as winter approaches

I am adding to my greenhouse which will be 6 by 26 feet now - leans up on side of house and up on a deck because of flooding here - In the past I have used small space heater or two when it gets very cold for a 6X12 area - now that won't work. Vented gas seemed very questionable and pricey to get here - Lg 220 heater would require wiring and new fuse box which I would rather not use so I found a portable heat pump/air conditioner 13,000 BTU's in a gardening catalog that sells greenhouses. I couldn't tell who makes the unit and it is supposed to be something new. Does anyone know anything about these units? What do you use in a space this size? It is triple wall poly carb. Thanks so much for your help..k

Hi Kathleen

My orchid room is 12 x 28. For the few nights we get temps lower than 50 here I have a portable space heater with a thermostat and 2 ceiling fans. The heater gets set to 48-49 degrees and the ceiling fans are set on reverse to push the warm air back down. It's worked for the past three years with no problems at all.

Thanks for the info but the space heater I had for 6X12 wasn't enough at 30 degrees - had to add another so now will have twice the space to heat...kathleen

Sorry I couldn't help

Hopefully, somebody else will be able to give you other suggestions.

I'm going to move this thread into the Greenhouse forum...I think you may have better luck there

For me, and I'm on the SE Florida coast, unless it goes down past 35 or it becomes windy, as long as my orchids have their semi cover, roof and sides, they are ok. Depending on the environment, I may bring in the more tender ones. But I don't close my windows or turn on heat in my home.

I love the cold and soak it up. You could say I store it up for the summer.. Which, now that I think about it, I think my tank has just about run dry and I'm ready for some cooler weather.

That is prolly not the answer you were looking for either. But thats just my .
