The site that Ross offered has a link to cheap, self-assembled structures that look very much like mine. Mine is a custom number that my husband built for me as a gift. One note of warning: Corplast is not as uv resistant as is reported, as one whole outer wall of my gh will have to be replaced. Ah, live and learn! The site's gh kits look like they used a more uv resistant material...more like the roof material we got at the local hardware box store. It's held up really well to all of the weather extremes (even the ice storm a couple years back!). Yeah, go for the big ring and enjoy it. I really have enjoyed mine and it's been fun to plan and budget for equipment and orchids. It's worth it!

Libby,
I got a couple of mister heads at the box store and use them with a box fan. My gh is small and the mist was getting on the plants. I bought a swamp cooler pad, cut it in half and hung it so it deflects the mist but still blows and cools the gh. It took a little experimenting but seems to be working.

You are correct on the quality of the UV deterent used on outer walls of this material. Also, you can purchase containers of material meant to replenish the UV-resistance and clearity. Just ask them.

Geoff's friend, Scott keeps pressing me to try a swamp cooler. He said even on the nastiest of days, when the gates of hell were open, that the greenhouse was reasonable. I am gunning for one...because, as your second question implies....YES!!! I can expect to repot a couple of plants a couple of times over the summer. It's a pain, because, as you well know, we lose all that humidity over the winter and I run into the opposite problem, so I want some water retention and a little warmth.... This is one of the many reasons why I was looking at a Jaybird and trying to convince my spousal unit that a swamp cooler would work wonders in my greenhouse and pay for itself in the saved cost of media!! Any other cost saving suggestions would be gratefully entertained!

Hmmmm "THAT Deb" and I'm "famous"? For what??? What's Geoff been telling you?
Seriously though, he is a very cherished friend of mine. We can talk on the phone for hours. He also speaks very highly of you.
One thing I wanted to ask you about is, your "spousal unit" How did you come up with that term? It's very cute!!

I want a greenhouse too. Had one half built at our old house, before we sold it. Lots more outdoor space at that place. Colder climate though. A girl can dream.
