The cool thing about them is that once eaten they change your sense of taste for up to 2hrs. They block sour receptors and enhance sweet receptors which makes anything sour/acidic taste miraculously sweet.

That is soo cool! I have got to try that!

I think I read somewhere that growing tomatoes might not be a good idea in a greenhouse with orchids. Has anyone seen anything like this?

not in a GH but in my appartment: Amorphophallus konjak, Arum palestinum and Arum creticum (having hard time with this last one), two mini Hostas, Rose Pelargonia + Thyme + Rosemarin on the window of my sleeping room (just love the aromes getting in with the summer breeze), one Eucharis grandiflora (pic attached), Tropaleum tricolor (hundres of flowers in spring), Sprekelia formosissima (very interesting flowers, which just let me waiting for them this year ), and Hippeastrum papilio (for me, the most beautiful hippeastrum!)

Ramón, I would be really interested to know how you care for you Arum species inside your apartment. Maybe if you have time, you can make a little post about them on the Aroid Thread? The Aroid Thread

Not too sure about growing tomatoes for fruit in the GH, but I do start them every year around mid March to put outside in June; bear in mind that they take up a ton of room (especially the vine type), they won't take nights below 50F or so very well, and they are very prone to whitefly and aphids (in my experience)--they will also shed pests to anything else in the Solanum family (so for me, Brugmansias yes, tomato plants no!)
Just my 2 cents
Adam

I grow a little bit of everything tropical. Brugmansia (angel's trumpet) are a nice greenhouse plant. And bromeliads of all types, of course. A little lemon tree, too. Ferns, alocasias, other tropical foliage, etc.

Tindo, in my case I have the Arum growing in my balcony, which I can close during winter and keep at around 5°C. I try to keep the plant on the shaded side. As I said before, A. palaestinum is doing pretty well, but A. creticum is giving me some troubbles: it grows but does not look very happy.

I grow a variety of plants in my compact grenhouse. I try to avoid bug magnets. My list:
Key Lime, Meyer Lemon, Valencia Orange, Aeschnanthus 'Rigel', African Violet, Aglia oderata(love this one)a few begonias, Brunfelsia, Burdidgea, Gardenia, Hoya-Bella, a few Jasmine, Leptospermum (2nd try and this new one is not doing too well), Medinilla magnifica, Michelia figo(new), Mitriostigma axillare(love it) Murraya paniculata (has a heavenly scent),Osmanthus(new), Pandora jasminoides(less than a year old)two passafloras and Trachelospermum asiaticum.
Orchids are new for me and I'm still trying to get a handle on it. The only ones that do really well and are pretty care-free are the Phals. I recently discovered this forum and members have already been a great source of information.

I agree with Stonedragon. I once grew tomatoes on my porch(completely open on 3 sides) I got a white fly infestation so bad i had to throw the tomatoes out with pots and all. I would NOT risk growing tomotoes or sweet pepers/paprika near my orchids.
I do not have a green house (yet).
