Also... given that the current stash of plants is small enough to keep in the house, which buys time, join the nearest orchid club and find out what works for local people. The best source of information of all.

I will add that dedicating an enclosed indoor area and using LED lighting might be significantly less costly than heating a greenhouse.

I heated with propane in PA, and my “budget” payment was $400 a month to pay for over-winter heating. I seriously considered turning the greenhouse into my local product storage and converting my basement into a lighted growing space.

I sent a message to the Michigan Orchid Society and was told the closest groups were both 2 and a half hours from our planned home. Such a shame! I'll figure this out. I have lots of time.

That may be the idea that gets the most attention. Cost is a factor, for sure. And I already know where to get indoor supplies.
