I am looking for a greenhouse also

Hi everyone -I am looking for a small greenhouse 6-8'x10-12'. I am interested in a junior victorian which is glass and metal, and the cedar kit from canada which is beautiful. . any suggestions. I live in New Jersey.
this will be my birthday, anniversary, gift from the family.

Hello...a couple of things:
1. Will your structure be attached to your house?
2. Will you be heating/growing in it year round?

Most growers will tell you to get the biggest size house that you can afford--you will quickly fill it.
As far as year round growing, glass GHs are cool to look at, but are inefficient to heat, and can be dangerous in areas with snow load/hail/high winds...ultimately it depends on what your primary purpose for getting the gh is...

I agree with that. There are other materials more effecient than glass in terms of energy and quality of light getting through. Another reason for a big gh is that the bigger the gh, the bigger the inertia, so the more stable the temperature will be. One other thing I might add is that seeing that you are in New Jersey and if you intend to heat all year round, double paned glass might be a good idea to keep heating bills down! Although it is initially more expensive , I think you'll end up saving a lot of money down the road.

Go to homedepot.com. Search for greenhouse. They sell (online only, I think) two very nice looking greenhouses. Plus there are several reviews from people who have actually purchased them. I think they're very attractive and would love to have one, but living in Florida they just aren't practical. May be just want you need in New Jersey!

I have the 10' x 12'. I really like it! It has 4 vents and I got 2 of the greenhouse window vent openers, alond with a shutter. I plan on getting the solar exhaust fan. I have been using a little space heater at night and its been staying @57F at night. THen I also have the mister that I got from walmart. Watch for the sales on the greenhouse at Harbor Freight. If you get one, I have a few suggestions for putting it together. Could save alot of time!

Thank you everyone for the responses. I would like one that can be used year round. ( since I live in NJ zone 6b) For my babies(orchids) and growing other plants. so I need a green house which can be heated.

I heat my greenhouse with a little portable electric heater right now and I am getting a Karosine heater from someone local that used it in their greenhouse until they piped gas out from the house. She used the Karosine heater for @ 2 years. We are considered zone 5 and 6 here in Idaho. The electric heater that I have in my greenhouse works great! The coolest that It has gotten with the heater is @ 55F or so. It automaticlly takes a break when the heat gets to a certain temp. I Really like my greenhouse that I got from Harbor Freight! and I also got some aluminum tape and taped around the panels to keep the greenhouse sealed and you can use bubble rap to insulate the greenhouse as well.

today was a rather busy day
i move my orchids back to the greenhouse; after spending winter underlights in the basement
up the stairs. through the house .to the greenhouse.put plants in the rifgt spot. back to the house more orchids. well you get the picture. i,ve had my workout today,
in the fall we.ll do it all over again. but in reverse
my orchids are looking happier already
but i,m pooped! goodnight all.
