As someone who has got more involved with orchids over the past year or so I am looking for advice on a potential grow area. I currently have one or two orchids in a cool greenhouse but the rest are inside near window (Phals) and the rest in a terrarium with a footprint of 24x18 inches equipped with some lights, a computer fan and a primitive
misting system. I need more space and can make the space in the photo available
It is about 10 foot long and 4 foot wide with walls on three sides and the other will be glass (facing south) and the roof will be clear glass. I envisage a bench across the far end and I would like to move my terrarium out there but am vclearly worried about the ambient temperature. I live in hardiness zone 8.
I have considered building some kind of heated tent around the terrarium, putting a tubular heater inside it, attaching heat pads to the outside or relying on warmer lamps.
Currently I am growing miniarure Dendrobiums, Dendochrilium, Tolumnia and a few others.
Any advice on how I can achieve what I want either using the terrarium or any other options you can suggest!
Regards,
Mike
