I enjoyed these mauve flowers so much! There were three plants that produced them, all somewhat different. They were all rescues from the grocery store, and had no names. One plant finished blooming and promptly died. No idea why.

MamaLiberty, in an effort to be helpful, I just wanted to let you know that I think your pots are too big for those Phals. They prefer to be underpotted than in pots too big because if the pot is too big it will stay wet longer (by virtue of holding more medium) than the plant wants to be and it's very easy to overwater. If I'm not sure the medium is dry, I will wait another day just to be sure. I've killed more by overwatering than under!

Thanks for your suggestion! I think I get away with the large pots because the air here is so dry. It is really hard to keep the room humidity above 40% most of the time. In any case, these things keep blooming and growing, so I'm content. I don't ever put them into larger pots either, just trim roots and replace the "soil" after a heavy bloom.
