Dendrobium rooting

Description: These three stalks were hanging out a pot in the way most of the time. Since the plant had several more stalks, when I repotted the plant I severed these off. I intended to just throw them away but though "Let's see what happens if I put them in some water in the kitchen?" As you can see they grew roots but are not happy that they have been left in the water for six months. But they are healthy enough that one stalk grew a small keiki.

Description: If you look carefully near the top of the left stalk you should see a tiny keiki with a root about the same size.

Description: The top arrow points to where a keiki was cut off to plant in it's own pot. Later I tried a drop of KeikiPro on the place where that keiki came from. About 3 to 4 months later three growths appeared, the biggest is to the left between the two arrows. The bottom arrow points to one of the other much smaller growths, the third is on the opposite side of this dendrobium.

Description: This node started to grow after an application of KeikiPro but then seemed to quit, later the inflorescence (seen running horizontal from node) grew.

Keiki on one of my orchids

Description: This phalaenopsis has been very responsive to applications of KeikiPro a keiki stimulant that I learned about on this board. The web site is http://www.keikipro.com/ Note: The flower is on the end of the parent plant inflorescence that the keiki is on. I have cut off and potted two other keikis from this same plant, all grew almost at the same time.

Ugly Dendrobium (the plant that is)

Description: I was given this dendrobium by a neighbor. She had it out on her patio in northern Virginia. The plant is the ugliest of all that I have, 8 leafless canes and only three leaves on one of the remaining two, the other has the grand total of five. When she gave it to me she asked, You know not to cut off the canes, even though they have no leaves? To which, I said, Yes. One of the canes with leaves bloomed for me about three moths after I got it. And NOW, here is a bloom stalk on one of the bare canes.

Description: I have had this pest on mostly my phaleanopsis put also occasionally on my dendrobiums. I started with a phal. that I bought from Wegmans. About a month after I got it the plant was covered with them. I manually rubbed them off and have been checking all my plants regularly. So far I have kept the infestation in check.
