OK, here's the deal!
Plants must be small (this one qualifies), must be able to grow under dry conditions (35% humidity is lowest I usually see), must be able to grow under less-than-ideal light (at least on cloudy days) something like 1000 foot-candles, but still able to withstand or covet higher light (like up to 3000 foot-candles on occasion.) Sound like a challenge? I should invite Dorothy in on this since she's such a research godess.

Does it require a cold dry dormancy?

Paul, I didn't give as cold a dormant period as some of my other Dens get. But I did reduce watering and withheld fertiliser. I have started to water again (once I clearly saw buds forming), but I won't start again with the fertiliser until I see new growth.
I will definitely print out the pic from Jay's and hang it up within plain site of the plant - maybe it will get the hint???

I like this species and also its close relative, Den.cariniferum. But it is relatively difficult to grow these black-hair dendrobiums here due to our hot, humid summer.
Shakkai, your plant looks very healthy, it seems to accustom well in UK.

Pheli, At least the cool weather here is good for something! Thanks for your comments. This is the only one from this group that I grow - but I do have some of the other cool growing Dens, and I love them all!!
Thanks Orchonubee!
I've found that if the plants requirements match the environment that you already have, almost any orchid is easy... this is one of those.
