Hi everyone! I recently came across these beautiful denphals from my local Home Depot. They all are healthy and I’ve checked the root system during reporting (yes...I am impatient and repot during bloom) everything seemed fine. Ever since purchase, I left them outside (I live in Southern California btw) and noticed only one of my den phals leaves are yellow/drying. I put a cover over them during rainfall and they aren’t placed in a position where sunlight directly hits them, so sun burn isn’t the issue. And with the low temps, I only watered them once or twice since purchase. Will they be okay?

Depending on parentage, some Den phals will put up with cold, but in general they like to be warmer than a southern California winter. (55 deg F is OK, 50 is pushing it, but most areas have been colder than that lately.) And if they were acquired recently, they didn't get a chance to acclimate as the nights got cooler so this year, especially, they need some pampering because they certainly were growing in a warmer condition before you acquired them.. Consider bringing them inside for the next few months. They can move back outside in the spring.

also -- dend phals are notorious of dropping leaves in from their older growths, tho those stems might still put out bloom spikes when the plants are larger and many p-bulbs. The remarks about the temperatures are spot on. Keep them above 55. 60 is better.
