Default Dendrobium equitans

This one is a successive bloomer. If anyone is thinking of purchasing one, they should know to not remove any flower spikes.

This plant blooms randomly throughout the year.

It is also pretty fragrant.

Super easy to grow.

I really like it and I am thinking I need one of these. So, a few questions...how tall is it? How are you growing this?

Nice! I didn’t know this one was fragrant. How much light are you giving yours? I just got this one from Andy’s last month and I’ve been keeping mine pretty bright with some direct sun in the late afternoon-evening, no signs of burning, but I’m not sure if that’s too much. I really like the look of this guy. Husband is pretty sure I got swindled and was sold sticks on a stick

They grow bright, as bright as a Cattleya. The leaves will turn red-violet under bright light and they are quite impressive when they do turn color like this, in my opinion. It is like the leaves are on fire. So, , I'm not so sure I agree with your husband. Mine are about 2 feet under some flood lamps that are rated at producing about 3,600 lumens and have a Kelvin temperature of about 6,000 K.

I grow these intermediate to warm, 15.6 C - 32.2 C (60 F - 90 F).

Dry out between waterings.

They are moderately slow growing.

Like I mentioned, they are successive bloomers with 1 - 2 flowers per spike at one given time, (at least, mine have so far only produced 2 flowers per spike at the most, but I see Andy has had some that produced quite a bit of flowers per spike). They are pretty free blooming. I get flowers about once a week.

They are only fragrant from around 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

You've got to get close to the flowers to smell them. If you're about a few inches away from the flower, you'll definitely smell them.

They top out at around 12 - 15 inches (30.5 cm - 38.1 cm) tall.

Den equitans has cigar shaped pseudobulbs.

Mine is potted in tree fern fiber. The large grade bark is only top dressing because I felt that some of the roots were a bit more exposed to the air than I'd like them to be.

Thanks for the information. Next time I do an Andy's order, I will need to add that one to the list.
