is this a Den aggregatum spike?
Default is this a Den aggregatum spike?

Hello,

I have a growth coming out the side of a psuedobulb, but it looks identical to the new leads that sprout from the base of the plant. I've been reading that this plant spikes half way up the p-bulbs like mine. Though, I've never gotten Den. aggregatum to bloom, so I'm not familiar what the spike looks like.

Looks promising...!?

Thanks

Yes that looks like a spike. I'm comparing it to mine that spiked in 2017 and still has spike remnants.

What happened? Was that a spike? I'm following up because mine now has the same thing happening!

Alas, it turned into a keiki... still a no bloomer.

Hope that you'll get a spike!

I didn't know these could keiki. Since mine is also out of normal bloom season, it's probably also a keiki.

Mine turned out to be a ???. A growth with developing roots and a single bud. Weird.

The spikes are usually pretty spindly looking at first. Maybe they're not getting enough sun? I bought mine from a nursery in hawaii and they were sitting on bark in the hot unfiltered sun there, the p-bulbs were shrivelled but they were flowering like crazy.
