An unusual and interesting cross recently developed by one of the local nursery. Vegetatively it resembles hancockii while its flower shows strong kingianum influence as well as increased flower count per inflorescence. Strong honey fragrance, as expected from both of the parents.
BTW, I never thought such intersectional hybrid was possible. This opens up a rather whole new level of hybridizing...IMHO
Nice result! I have a few other intersectionals still to bloom. The problem is often sterility (or better said, reduced fertility. With 1 million seeds something may happen) in the next generation. There are currently a wave of intersectionals available, mostly involving Sections Dendrobium, Latouria, Spathulata and Formosae. A very exciting time for us, although this has been done before to a degree, the off-spring was never so well distributed. The modern age!
