saliva on pollen?
Default saliva on pollen?

hey guys so i had a nice trip to a cool market and they were selling phals and dendrobiums
i made my mother buy me a dend and then some old guy knocked over a phal, causing a flower to fall off
i grabbed that flower for its pollinia and i then pinched a few dend flowers off a few plants i wasnt buying
i got home and went to pollinate mine with a plucked flower-but the 4 pollinia went everywhere
i proceeded to touch a pin to my tongue, which allowed me to pick up a few pollinia and transfer them to that indent on the inside of the flower behind its pollen cap
will the tiny amount of my spit affect pollination??

The saliva might introduce unusual bacteria, but I doubt it's an issue.

Not an issue, I have done it often over the years. Of course, using it as an adhesive for the pollen would be overkill. Saliva is a digestive juice and will breakdown organic material, if in sufficient quantity.

Saliva converts starches to sugars. I don't think the pollinia or the viscidium is starch...
