My research did not yield that temperature range. It said 5-12C. So thank you again.

You should try to avoid water (gradually until zero for a month as Owz says) with the lowest temps you can get.

I don't appreciate opera very much but I love classic music...well, I love almost every genre of music.

I watered out of pity last Monday. I'll try to just water it once a month.

Yes, I like something in every catagory of music. But whatever it is should be uplifting to me.

Some theories say that plants like, and grow better, when they hear music.
Who knows?...

Dolly, I have a few D. aphyllum/cretaceum/primulinum and D. anosmum, which I handle the same. I do leave them outside for their cool treatment, BUT, simply running them dry and right next to the window glass will give them some cooling (after all, you are in Indiana!). As these plants cover a wide range of growing conditions, some examples will be more warm-tolerant than others. Specifically, D. aphyllum is found from about 100m above sea-level to well into the mountains. One would expect the dryness with extra light (many trees have lost their leaves, as well) would trigger most to bloom.
All my plants have just lost their leaves this week and I am keeping them dry until end of January, only misting them. As I am in the middle of constructing a greenhouse, they will be going into it in a few weeks, which will change the environment, but they all bloomed last season from late Winter to almost Summer (primulinum).
As we know, many Dendrobium (think of the nobile hybrids) let their bloom season be regulated and I see no reason why one could not do the same with this group. Most plants want to adapt and flourish, regardless of blooming in Winter or Spring-Summer. They just need the trigger, so to speak. I would not give-up, yet.

Thanks, Jamie. It can't hang right by the glass but, until Sunday it got cool nights and warm days in the greenhouse with only 1 watering since October when it went in there. So it did get some chill then.

A friend of mine has a ginormous, beautiful aphyllum and it blooms like crazy every year. She grows in a g/h in our northern climate...g/h never goes below 60...and she waters on sunny days only. She gets a lot more cloud cover than I do in Columbus but it does get some water on those really bright days. It's mounted and dries fast.

I grow 2 anosmums and under the HO T5's it's super drying so I do water mine all winter. Not nearly as much water as they get when in active growth (almost daily) but they do get some water...about once a week. Both potted in small pots w/lava rock...both get watered until water runs out the bottom of the pots but they dry fast under these lights. Both bloom beautifully in late winter. My space does not drop below 60 at night and (because of the heat of the lights) warms up into the upper 70's/low 80's during the day. This past week w/our warmer than normal temps...I've had to open the windows in the space to keep it from getting too warm. Windows open up at 81 degrees and they don't get closed until the lights start to cycle off. In the dead of winter and very cold temps...w/out windows open...the space can be in the low to mid 70's during the day.

Hope that helps some.

All this has helped. Like pieces of a puzzle. I have to work today but tomorrow I'll start rearranging. And no water...I can get it closer to the window. That might lower the temp a degree or two and I haven't as close to the t5 as I can get it. Thanks all. Extrapolating thus information in a practical way has been fun.
