I just got a small two-lead Dendrobium pierardii (aphyllum) from Hausermanns in a 2.5-inch pot. Can I mount this now or should I wait until the Spring and let the leaves fall and new roots start to grow? Thanks - I appreciate the help.
I would wait until it's growing in the spring. The best time to repot orchids is when they are beginning to grow new roots. The worst time is going into the winter.
And realize a tiny plant like this won't be able to handle months of complete dryness. Water it to keep the stems from shriveling through the winter. It's too small to flower, so don't push it.
