Default Dendrobium unicum mixed message

I have a small start of a Den. unicum that I bought at a local society sale in April of this year, it was just starting its spring growth. I've seen that unicum seems to range in size and habit quite a bit. This one had three or four fairly short and a bit stout old back canes and it grew one slightly larger green cane with five leaves.

Just last week it sprouted another cane which is just a shoot at this point. However, over the last two days, two of the leaves on the April cane turned yellow.

So I'm wondering...is it telling me that it is spring and I should water a lot? Or is it telling me that it is getting ready to go dormant and have the drier winter season?

I have a different unicum that I got from Andy's and it has much longer thinner canes with more leaves. It is still very green and growing roots with no sign of a new growth or going dormant.

In habitat, in the early pat of the dry season there is considerable moiture from heavy dew and fog.
So, I would keep watering until the growth is stopped.
