Dendrobium catenatum, first bloom!
Hi all!
This is my first bloom for my Dendrobium Catenatum.
I don't know if this is the first bloom for this plant but I bought it as a young plant so it might be?
The plant has two spikes, one with two flowers and one with three. Strange thing is that one of the spikes is also making a root.
It's also making some new growth.
After purchasing last September I couldn't offer the right humidity but since three months I kept it in a grow box with high humidity and LED.
For me the leaves of the new growth seems a bit yellowish instead of a deep green. I was wondering wether hat is normal or not?
Recently I lowered the amount of light from 1000fc to 650fc because I find the colour of the leaves to light, so far I don't see much change and according to what I read the plant needs 1000-1500fc, so maybe I should put it back to 1000fc?

Very nice!
I have had Dens that also get roots on spikes - sometimes the spike may develop into a keiki, tho it may not become apparent until the next year, if a new growth starts there.
The color of the leaves looks ok to me - but I defer to others that may have experience with this species.
Congrats on the blooms!

That's a cutie! I've never seen that species before. The leaves do look all right to me; many dens do not have dark leaves when they get high light. Since you are getting blooms, I'd say the plant is happy.

I'm not familiar with this species. But, I'd say that it looks pretty normal for a deciduous type Den. at that stage. The yellowing that I see on the leaves is probably nothing more than they're getting ready to drop as the new growths take over.

Yes indeed, I was wondering that because I was missing the new growth there, it's only a spike so far and no new growth. Let's hope for the best that it develops into a keiki.
