Default Dendrobium guerreroi

This is quite new and here are the first blossoms. A member of the Section Calcarifera, it comes from the Philippines. Related to D. cerinum and D. ionopus, which all look quite similar. Wish I could find the Key to seperate this group.

Regelian, I think yours is not the real D. guerreroi. I investigated about this a little bit (a related blog post). The only photo of D. guerreroi I could find is by Jim Cootes (IOSPE link). This image was used in several books. If you compare it, you can tell that yours is quite different.

Naoki,
if you click on the second foto in Jim's description you will find a quite different flower that matches mine. The first foto is the only foto of this white flowered plant and is circulating as D. guerreroi without any comparison, which makes me suspect. The plant is apparently not rare in the Philippines. There is clearly some confusion in this group of orchids.

D. guerreroi is from the Phillipines, which my plant should be (contact in the Philippines recognised it as the local plant), while D. ionopus is from S.E Asia, along with D. cerinum, which I am adding fotos of, one with my D. guerreroi in comparison, plus a portrait shot. Even with these comparisons, I do not feel much clearer!

The mention of D. ionopus in the Gardener's Chronicle is, unfortunately, not a proper description. There are a few similar names in the registry, as well, to further confuse the matter. D. epidendropsis is apparently from the Philippines, as well, and could be closer to my plant.

Any further ideas on what we actually have? Maybe this plant is not D. guerreroi, rather a Philippine subspecies/form of D. ionopus. If you come across any more infos, I would be most happy to hear about them.

cheers and thanks for the comments,

Jamie
