Default Den. spectabile

This is the first time it's bloomed for me, and I'm so excited by how weird and cool it looks. There are two spikes, and these are the flowers on one.

Thanks! I'm in Davis. Bracing for the torrents of rain coming this weekend. :/

Thank you so much! It's not a great pic, but it shows the flowers okay enough. They remind me of alien heads or scrambled brains.

I got mine when it was already pretty large, and it was in spike. The spikes dried up and died, though, so that's another reason I'm so excited to FINALLY see it bloom! Good luck with yours!!

Davis! I imagine there will be flooding in the streets, unless things have changed. I graduated from UCD years ago and have fond memories of bike riding in the rain! Now I have a niece who works at the Vet School.

No, I was in school in SF, but a classmate's girlfriend went to Davis. I visited a few times.

Interesting! I had roommates a few years ago who were graduate students in the vet school. Keeping my fingers crossed that the streets (and my home) don't flood!

I had to look this up, not being very acquainted with the agricultural side of Davis. It's an odd place sometimes. . . .
