Flickingeria comata anybody?

Anybody have experience with Flickingeria comata? I'm not seeing anything in the forums and not finding a lot on the web.

There is one in a local shop. It is mounted on a board/shingle type and it seems to be quite rangy in its growth habit.

The one in the shop isn't quite in bloom, but the photos I found on the web show the blooms to be quite interesting, albeit short-lived. I've also read it is fragrant. Since it is in the Dendrobieae and not the Bulbophyllinae I assume that it is a pleasant fragrance.

Trying to decide if I should get it. Anybody have experience?

I have not had any experience with this plant, but I note it is referred to in Orchid Wiz. Its origin appears to be in the tropical areas around the pacific and coral sea. I note it requires HOT growing conditions. KEW gardens have now also accepted this species as dendrobuim comata. The Flowers shown in Orchid Wiz (15) do look nice.This flower also appears on a Solomon Island stamp. If you have the means to grow it in Hot conditions 75f to 85f at night then I suggest it would be quite spectacular in any collection.

I have it. The species is also native to my country.
The species can be grown like that for cattleyas. Moderate sunlight and regularly water it all years round if it is warm encough in the winter. It is not a fast growing species. The blooms are short-lived, less than one day.

I hadn't noticed the hot requirements. I don't have that environment. I think I'll pass on it. Thanks everybody.

If you have greenhouse for your plant. Just keep it slight drier in the cold days.
