Den. crepidatum







Very fragrant, like a rose. I can smell it even in cloudy morning. Note the very shiny, almost metallic texture of the flower.
It is currently mounted on a big chunk of filter-grade charcoal. The stem is top heavy.



Den. unicum

It is its first bloom.







I love the brilliant orange color of flower. Slight scent--a bit like...crayon? Not bad though. Very interesting, almost vein-like pattern in the lips.

Great growing! How are you growing your D. unicum? I have a few small seedlings and their growths are really slow to take as are new roots... I'm worried! Mine smelled slightly citrus-ie when it was in bloom. :O

I grow it mounted on a slab of pumice rock (my favorite mounting substrate...haha ), with some sphagnum moss around the root to retain moisture.

I treat it similar to my moniliformes...bright indirect lights with some morning sunshine. I water it every other day, fertilizing bi-weekly with diluted liquid fertilizer (I use Hyponex brand fertilizer from Japan) and cut watering fertilizing altogether after october, except occasional light misting to prevent complete dehydration. I keep it a bit cold, as I would do it with moniliformes (about minimum 10~12 degree Celsius)
