They have different ones, the 500 x magnification is good enough for plant use. They are around $15 on Ebay. What you do is plug into your computer USB then pull up the window for viewing. Place the lens on the leaf, adjust until it's in focus then move around the leaf to see any part you want. They are well worth the money. I use it when I bring plants into the home or if I am wondering what is going on with my plant. You can put it anywhere on the plant.
Here is a link to Ebay: 50 500x 2MP USB 8 LED Light Digital Microscope Endoscope Camera Magnifier | eBay
Here is a video about using the microscope:
Her plants were loaded with them and she already had damage. Mine only had a couple. I treated any plant that had mites with a spray of alcohol dish soap and water. I left it for 15 min then gave another good spray. Eventually I rinsed with water and repotted. It did not bother the plant at all. I have been rechecking my plants to see if any returned and so far they are gone.

Update on my laevifolium
I think I killed it. I repotted it in some nice new moss, the roots looked fine, but now the tiny little leaves have all dried up. Do you think it will come back and make some new leaves or a new growth or is it toast. I did increase the heat a bit as suggested. I have since moved it away from the lights as I thought maybe they might have helped it dry up. Not looking good

Personally I do not keep mine in a really warm area. Maybe with the increased heat and the close lights the little leaves dried up. If your roots are good and rubbery and your bulbs are still alive you might get more new leaves. I dosed mine in d/y mite treatment and repotted and it did not miss a beat. I looked under the microscope and so far no more mites.

We shall see, I hope they will stay gone. This is the first time I have had any.

Don't give up just yet. I hope it will come back for you. Mine only has 1 leaf left but it's putting out little buds now on 3 of the old growths. I am hoping the other 2 will also. I will have to get an updated photo one of these days.

I may try and get some but I was waiting until they got a bit bigger, they are very teeny, tiny. They are coming along pretty slowly. I will upload when I do back on the other thread.
