Den. Unicum: FIVE nubbins

I've had this little pip of an orchid since October. Within a week, my orange tabby, Boomer bit off a portion of both leaves. Since then, nothing. . .pitiful.

But look what I found yesterday after having moved it recently to brighter light and warmer temps; FIVE nubbins!

I had it in a 30 gallon aquarium with only one grow bulb. It was probably warm enough but certainly not humid enough.

I've just moved it to a growing rack, covered in plastic with a full length window behind it. It gets much warmer in there during the day, maybe 84 degrees. It's super humid, 75% with circulating air. The little unicum is about a foot below two flourescent grow lights. So it's getting really bright diffused light.

Go GO Nubbins!

Update: 26 days later

I am finding that the five nubbins are. . .(drum roll please):

Four buds and one leaf set!

Edited to add: note the precision with which Boomy Von BOom BoOm (our orange tabby cat) bit off that leaf on the top left.

Good job! I have trouble growing those. I finally mounted them on fern slabs in desperation. They smell like peach jello. Well, to me anyway.
