The chain stores sell different plants in different markets, probably from whatever growers is closest.
jmccoy, there is a outside chance you could ask the manager of the TJ for a contact for the grower, then ask them what it might be, especially if you have a flower photo.

Wow, that is really gorgeous!
I am not certain what type of Den it is, as my knowledge of Dendrobiums is rather limited. You could either do as suggested and explain your dilemma to the store manager and try to get the grower's name or start a thread asking if anyone can guess what type of Dendrobium this might be. Knowing what it is will give you a much better idea how to properly care for it.
Good luck!

Are the bumps on leafless pseudobulbs, just above old leaf scars? Hybrid Dendrobiums only grow one set of leaves from each pseudobulb. Once they drop, that's it. If bumps are growing from leafless pseudobulbs, they might be flowers, and they might be new plantlets sprouting.

Flower or keiki (Hawaiian for baby, which is what a lot of orchidists call plantlets developing off pseudobulbs or stems as in Dendrobium, Epidendrum or Phalaenopsis.) So you're doing something quite right.

Oh my! Really! I would be pleasently suprised by either and very happy with either. So I guess since its a dendrobium phanelopsis, I dont think it needs a winter rest so do I just water as usual and mist with high light and such. What should I do to keep this little guy happy?

Even all year - warm, moist but let get almost dry between waterings, bright light but don't let it burn, fertilizer if growing and it's warm.

Here is an update on the dendrobium. Iv been watering it like normal and it seems to be keeping its last leaf which makes me happy and the growths are getting bigger. Since they are bigger and easier to see I wonder if they are keikis or blooms. Anyone know?
