Den Nobile
ok, I've got the cool dry thing, now my Nobile has at least one bud stalk started (yea) and a few nubs that may or may not be the start of buds (or kiekis ). So now, when do I start watering again ? After buds have formed or do I wait ? If I wait til the popular Valentines day, won't the buds that are starting dry out and die ?

I'm not real good at blooming these but I would wait until you are sure they are buds, not keikis, then increase your watering a bit. Maybe no ferts for a while. Don't want a bunch of keikis instead of blooms

Yes they will. I made that mistake last winter and lost quite a few flowers. I really think it's best to water a little once a week. Just don't fertilize.

ZERO fertilizer from middle of Sept through end of March.
From mid October, reduce watering to 1/3 of normal.
Once buds are getting large, you can increase watering a little (to maybe 1/2 of what you do in growing season).

Do the leaves fall off no matter what, or because it's cool, or because water is restricted?

I hope Kim will step in on this one. I don't know, but I think it's a fall thing as the trees loosing leaves Is a fall thing. That they would loose their leaves due to shorter days. My leaves started falling before I slowed down the watering.
