Info on Den Dark Blue Lek? Female
Default Info on Den Dark Blue Lek?

Hi all,

I just got a new Dendrobium that I couldn't resist! It was on a 50% off table at a garden store, so of course I took it home with me.

Can someone find info on this hybrid? What are its parents and what section it is in? I can't find a thing. It was very hard to get a good color rendering on my phone - it kept showing up a little too pink. It's actually purple with a fuchsia glow in the sunlight. The center is a very light green-yellow.

Thanks in advance...

Kelly

Nice one! The name "Dark Blue Lek" doesn't appear to be in the RHS database, so it may be a trade name.

Looks like there's Den-phal, and maybe antelope type ? Care for like Den-phal https://www.aos.org/Default.aspx?id=457

The garden store might tell you where they get their plants, and you could call the grower to ask for more information.

WhiteRabbit is referring to the fact that there are a lot of Dendrobium species, from many different kinds of climates. For convenience they are grouped according to how to grow them, as in the link she sent you. Many species have definite needs as to watering, temperature and light. Hybrids often (but not always) need culture similar to their parents.

Your flowers have characteristics that might have been inherited from D. phalaenopsis and D. antennatum somewhere in the pedigree.
