Should I stake the new canes towards the centre and force the old canes out or vice versa?
Another question, hopefully I got this wrong, I thought I read that Nobiles flower on the old canes. The thing is I bought my plant with three canes all in flower?
Does this mean no flowers this year until next year when the 8 new canes are 8 old canes?
Were there any canes with leaves this year? Usually it goes:
year 1: Grow cane
year 2: Drop leaves from cane in autumn, flowers bud from cane in spring.
As for new growth i keep mine in hanging pots so i just tie them to the apex of the hook thing as they get that high. A grower i know puts in a small stake in the middle and just ties them to it. The old canes usually stand up on their own after they've lost their leaves and done their flowering.
