Wow fantastic job toddy and brilliant pics too! I love the white roots snaking themselves around.

What growing conditions do you keep it in? I've thought about mounting some kingis, i have a few sprawling on rock but that's it. Do you have to water it daily?

Also about the keikis, this pic is one of my kings and you might be able to see three or four new growths (keikis) at the very top growing from nodes. They don't have roots yet, its the middle of summer. Do the keikis inhibit flowering the following spring from those nodes?

keikeis can reduce flowering...I generally remove them while quite small to reduce the starin on the plant, however, as my plant was quite old and starting to go downhill, I decided to let them mature the keikeis to get more plants. I also divided the parent, keeping the outer fresher portions.

I water the mounted plants daily except in the fall when they are cooled (10-12 C)and only sprayed once every 2 weeks or so, until the spikes reach about a centimeter, then I warm them (still below 18 C) and resume daily watering. They typically bloom from mid-Jan to late Feb.

Great job Todd,

I'm looking to get a Dendrobium kingianum. Saw one at Andy's at WOC but it was a small variety. Yours looks slightly bigger. Do you have any more info about yours after 20 years?

I mounted a couple dens on some old swamp cypress and they seem to love it. I bought some cork slabs and am mounting on that too. It's strong and long lasting like the grapevine wood. Looks pretty cool too. I need to take a few pictures of my guys and post them.
