I think the two names are interchangeable.

... anyways - it's a fairly compact Den; grows like a weed! (it's become much too bushy for my narrow windowsills, and will hopefully get divided after blooming).

Because of the bushiness of the plant, and flowers on all sides of, and center of, plant, photos just can't convey how wonderful it looks - so many (1.5") flowers all over!

Blooms are very long lasting (3 -4 months), and canes can bloom more than once. A reliable bloomer, and a very rewarding plant!

It has subtle fragrance - in the past I didn't think it was a nice fragrance; just the musky scent a lot of flowers have - but this year it seems more pleasant to me. I don't know if the difference is the fragrance itself, or my perception of it.

It's not a sequential bloomer, but does get many spikes, and the blooms are very long lasting (3 months or longer) - so since not all spikes start blooming at the same time, it can be in bloom for 4 months or so.

I got this from Gold Country Orchids six years ago, but I don't think they are hard to find (I often see them for sale at orchid shows).
Due to the long lasting blooms, I won't be dividing mine til later this year (hopefully I will get to it!). I will try to remember your interest, if you haven't already gotten one.

Well, Micro Chip came into being when what was previously atroviolaceum v pygmy was classified as a distinct species (normanbyense).

I previously didn't find the scent appealing (it wasn't a bad scent, just not something I cared for) - this time, I am finding the fragrance to be rather nice. I don't know if it's the actual fragrance that is different this year, or if it's my perception of it
