Default My mutant dendro flower

I received this NOID dendrobium last year for Valentines Day from my hubby. This is it's first rebloom. I think I posted something in regards to it a couple of weeks ago because the blooms seemed to be fading rather quickly. It could be because I have been a bad mommy and only watering some of my orchids every other weekend with misting the roots in between. Some of the blooms opened and have died off already before some of the other blooms ever finished developing. I am growing this in my large orchidarium that has the MistKing System to help with humidity. Hope you all enjoy my mutant monster looking flower....LOL. I still love it though....I just think it needs braces for it's smile

Oh my! That really did go awry somewhere along the line. It'll do better next time. I water more often when they're in bloom. I think it helps the flowers last longer.

Terri, this isn't it's first time blooming and I can only hope the next round of blooms will be better like you said, so I will assume I have mutant flowers because of something I have been doing...lol.

Snow, the flowers aren't really that big, it is a standard dendrobium that you find in stores like home depot. They just look big because I took some close-up pictures.

Becca, nice setup you have there! I know you've been struggling with a couple issues, but it looks like you're getting a handle on it. I'd water a bit more often, though (at least some of the moisture-loving ones.) Sorry for the blossom, but the others look ok.

Becca,
You know when parent says (when having a baby); "I don't care what it is, as long as it's healthy"?
The same could be said for your flower; we don't know what it is, but it sure looks healthy!

The flowers look great, and there's always one unique individual in every crowd. Nice pictures!

Chris

It looks as if your den had semidouble flowers. If it did, you'd have a very special plant on your hands (well, it is special, but you know what I mean)

Beautiful flowers. I'm loving their velvety purple color.

Thanks! All of the mutant flower buds have dropped off, but a lot of the normal buds are still hanging in their so I am still enjoying their blooms!
