hardcane dendrobium care

I bought myself a book on orchids for SA growers and i see now that my den sonia is a hardcane.the book doesnt give much info on care for it though.is there any special way i should be treating it.we're going into winter here and i see something in the centre of the top leaves of the newest growth i dont want to jinx it but i hope its the beginning of a flower stalk.

A Den-phal type ? It seems about the right time of year for spikes (in the southern hemisphere). No winter rest, tho can just get slightly dry in-between waterings in winter, tho I don't think they need to in order to bloom - Mine need water less frequently in winter, due to lower temps, higher (usually) humidity here, but I don't let them sit dry at all. So, my experience is limited to just my two: bigibbum v compactum, and a bigibbum hybrid - but they both do great for me this way.

i'v got it planted in a half bark half stone mix and watering twice a week,its in a very bright east facing situation.will switch to floweing fert mix then and hope for the best.
