Hey everyone!

It's finals week, I have too many orchids, I basically don't even know what is going on or why I exist. I am so frazzled that I can't make heads or tails of anything haha.

My nonsense aside, I am wondering if you can sum up watering for dendrobium kingianum.
Maybe for a nobile while you're at it!!

I know kingianum needs a winter rest and cold night temps to bloom.

But when do I water?
What should I pot it in?
How much water does it like?

At this point, I am just soaking its media (it is in promix from whatever nursery I got it from) when the canes get a bit wrinkly.

Do they like to go bone dry for a while?
Do they like to be always a little bit damp?

Please give me guidance and rules of thumb!! If you compared/contrasted it with watering a phalaenopsis or oncidium-type orchid, that would be amazing.

Okay guys me go do thinking now. Me learn how math work.

I would also love this info even though I do not have finals, just kids that keep me frazzled. That way when I am able to acquire another kingianum I can do it justice.

No, they [king and nobile] don't like being "bone dry". Even in winter, (in nature) there is dew available to the roots.

I water mine fairly normally year round - but allow it to be just slightly dry in-between waterings in winter. But, they should already have spikes in winter, so don't let it be too dry. Even if you want to go the 'dry in winter' route, that's before spikes/blooming - I believe you got yours recently in bloom, yes ? It should not be left dry. I don't let mine be so dry as to get shriveled canes.

I read once, a person who lives in the area where kingianums are native, write that it does rain there in winter - just not constant or monsoon type rains. - Hence why I do not grow mine very dry ever, and it blooms wonderfully (opening buds on it's many spikes now)
