Default Dendrobium Angel Love

I put my Nobiles outdoors in the summer, usually between the first of April to the end of September at the start of frost, I bring them in. I grow this in 30% shade or bright filtered sun. In the fall, when I bring them in, I put them in the south facing window.

This orchid plant likes to be root bound in the pot, which means that in the summer, with strong sunlight, I water this plant almost every day due to increased evaporation and transpiration. In the fall (late September) when the plants are in dormancy, I hold fertilizer and water only enough to keep the canes or pseudo bulbs from shriveling (about once per week). I resume normal watering (watering when the plant approaches dryness, every 3-5 days) until I see flower buds appear in the sides of the canes. This Nobile kind of Dendrobium likes to be watered in the morning.
Nobiles are definitely cool growers. Therefore they must have cool night temperatures. To produce good flower count, night temperatures should not raise above 60 °F; until the buds appear. After the buds appear, I keep them at 62-64 °F at night and should have opened its blooms in January or February. Some growers even put them in the refrigerator at night until buds appear ….but I always remember that with cold night temperatures I must keep them on the dry side=this will prevent fungus and rot problems.
