Dendrobium senile Male
Default Dendrobium senile

Dendrobium senile - very cute small size Dendrobium from Thailand & Laos. Bright light, regular watering and fertilizing during active growth, I did give my dry winter rest from December (not watering at all till bud formed in January). Still getting only lightly misting once a week, new growth is already appearing.

Oh! This is cool, very different. The bloom looks waxey and very pretty. Ya know, you should write a book with all of your orchids and their care requirements. This one looks like a little slice of sunshine, I love it.

Awesome!!

I just picked up one of these last November at the Fall MAOC and have been hoping I'm getting the culture right.

How much light are you giving it during the "rest" phase?

I'm keeping mine in bright light and because the lights are super drying I have been giving it a little drizzle of water about once a week to keep it from shriveling away to nothing. Did yours get real shriveled before blooming? I can't tell in the pics.

Great job growing yours!

Katrina, bright light, in the winter time as much light as they can get, even direct sun if possible, mine did not shrivel much though, it was strong from the summer time I guess with all watering and fertilizing. But you are doing it right, if the cane do shrivel a lot, than give light misting even during the winter time, but no fertilizer.

Now this one is a weird one. I think it may be an animal not a plant. Those waxy blooms are beautiful.
