Worried about fragrance of dendrobium kingianum

I have a Brassavola nodosa that bloomed with no scent at all. It is a first bloom so I will give it one more chance and then...out. I already bought a second one from a different vendor.

I often read that an orchid scent is described as freesia, rose, or lilac or some other wonderful plant that I grow and when I smell it...no. And roses vary considerably (and many roses are no longer fragrant). :|

Are you smelling that B. nodosa at night? They are really only fragrant at night, IME.

I like to wear orchids as art when I can. So when flowers begin to fade, or a spike is damaged, or I can just cut a small branch without diminishing the overall display too much, I take some.

I wear them in my hair or - haha! - on my eyes in this case.

I thought it would be a little trippy to have a miltoniopsis flower replace where my eyes should be!

Taking orchids and wearing them is special to me because the plants are so slow to mature. When you remove an orchid flower, you take something that took 7 years usually to develop, maybe a month to grow in the infloresence, and saying, "I will take this precious thing and make it more interesting or use it to enhance my beauty." It's a way of sharing the plant's beauty together with your plant!

Oh I didn't mean it to be too disturbing. I just felt it was more "me." I guess I'm being true to my city's slogan:

I'm sure he did.
As I mentioned earlier, not all B. nodosa is scented.
and some are better than others, in its intensity of fragrance and the how nice it is, although this latter part is highly personal.

I just bought two more nodosa.

Speaking of which, Astrid
Even if you are sensitive to fragrance, I think you would still enjoy B. nodosa or Neofinetia falcata.
These are quite strong but without being heady.
Try and if you don't like it, you can always send them to me. hahaha

Sharry Baby totally gives me headache, just too much although I do like the fragrance itself.
Dendrobium kingianum is very strong but with some bad kick, at least to me.

Yes, I did smell it at night but no such luck. Nothing. Not even a faint hint of fragrance. I kept hoping that it would just take a few days but...no. I am hoping the other will be a success. I have a fantastic Brassavola Little Stars, thankfully.

Trippy? I haven't heard that since the 60's lol. I love the pink Phal face pic but miltonia eyes... not so much.
